GCS developed the Montana Administrative Boundaries Automation (MABA) for the Montana Base Map Service Center. This cutting-edge interactive GIS website provides three levels of access: public, authorized user, and administrator.

Key Features:
- Public Access: The public site allows anyone to explore Montana’s administrative boundaries, such as school districts, fire districts, and voting boundaries, through an interactive map with customizable layers. Users can search boundaries by address, area, or name using an advanced query system. Additionally, users can generate printed maps and boundary reports based on selected criteria.
- Web Services Integration: MABA offers web services that enable the integration of boundary data into other applications, making it a valuable tool for government agencies and developers.
- Authorized User Access: Authorized users, such as city officials or school district personnel, can edit polygons and metadata for their respective areas using customized tools created by GCS. Edits are stored in a temporary workspace before submission to administrators for review and approval.
- Administrative Oversight: The Base Map Service Center (BMSC) oversees the site and manages boundary data submissions. Administrators review, communicate, and promote approved edits to the statewide database using MABA’s collaborative tools.

Benefits:
- Enhanced Efficiency: MABA empowers local officials to directly edit and update boundary data, reducing the workload for the BMSC and ensuring that updates are made by those with direct knowledge of boundary changes.
- Improved Accuracy: The review system ensures that all updates undergo proper oversight, preventing unauthorized changes.
- Public Transparency: The system allows the public to access up-to-date information on Montana’s administrative boundaries, fostering transparency and informed decision-making.
