Position Overview
GCS is seeking a GIS Analyst Intern to support our professional services team. This internship provides hands on experience working with Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online in a real world consulting environment. Interns will contribute to active customer projects, assist with data preparation and analysis, and gain exposure to modern GIS workflows and best practices.
This position is ideal for students or recent graduates pursuing degrees in GIS, geography, environmental science, computer science, or related fields.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with GIS data creation, editing, and quality control using ArcGIS Pro
• Support web map and web application development in ArcGIS Online
• Perform spatial analysis and basic geoprocessing tasks
• Help prepare maps, dashboards, and visualizations for customer deliverables
• Assist with data publishing, sharing, and organization in ArcGIS Online
• Document workflows and assist with internal and client facing materials
• Collaborate with GIS analysts, developers, and project managers
Required Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a GIS related academic program
• Familiarity with Esri ArcGIS Pro
• Basic understanding of ArcGIS Online concepts such as web maps and layers
• Strong attention to detail and data quality
• Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team
• Interest in applied GIS and real world problem solving
Preferred Qualifications
• Coursework or experience in spatial analysis or cartography
• Familiarity with feature services, hosted layers, or dashboards
• Exposure to Python, SQL, or geodatabases is a plus
• Interest in cloud based GIS workflows
