Position Overview
GCS is seeking an ArcGIS Software Developer Intern to support development of custom applications using the ArcGIS Developer platform. This internship provides hands on experience working with ArcGIS APIs and SDKs to build web mapping applications, integrate spatial services, and support real customer projects in a professional consulting environment.
This position is ideal for students or recent graduates pursuing computer science, software engineering, GIS, or related technical degrees with a strong interest in geospatial application development.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with development of web mapping applications using the ArcGIS JavaScript API
• Support integration with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise services
• Work with feature services, map services, and REST APIs
• Contribute to front end development using modern JavaScript frameworks
• Assist with backend or scripting tasks that support GIS workflows
• Test, debug, and document ArcGIS based applications
• Collaborate with GIS analysts, developers, and solution architects
Required Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a technical degree program
• Working knowledge of JavaScript
• Basic understanding of web development concepts (HTML, CSS, REST APIs)
• Familiarity with GIS concepts such as layers, feature services, and maps
• Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with the ArcGIS JavaScript API or other ArcGIS SDKs
• Familiarity with ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise
• Exposure to frameworks such as React or similar
• Experience with Python for scripting or automation
• Understanding of spatial data formats and geodatabases
• Interest in cloud based GIS and web application architecture
