Geoprocessing ArcGIS Tools for Insurance Risk Management and Rating

Objective: Develop and implement advanced geoprocessing tools to streamline insurance risk assessment and rating processes using Esri ArcGIS technology.

Project Description:

GCS partnered with BuildingMetrix to design and deploy a suite of custom geoprocessing tools on the ArcGIS platform, tailored for insurance risk management and property rating workflows. BuildingMetrix, specializing in data-driven insights for property insurers, required powerful spatial analysis capabilities to enhance the precision and efficiency of their risk assessment models, which include wildfire, earthquake, and other emerging risks.

Key Project Components:

1. Custom Geoprocessing Tools: GCS developed ArcGIS-based tools capable of analyzing diverse risk factors and providing property-specific insights, allowing insurers to evaluate risk profiles with greater accuracy.
2. Risk Rating Automation: Automated workflows were implemented to streamline the generation of risk ratings across large datasets, reducing manual input and accelerating report generation for insurers.
3. Integration with Existing Data: The tools were integrated with BuildingMetrix’s existing geospatial datasets, allowing seamless access to property data, risk factors, and historical risk models within the ArcGIS environment.
4. User Interface Design: GCS created an intuitive user interface for the tools, making them accessible to BuildingMetrix analysts and underwriters, empowering them with powerful yet user-friendly geospatial capabilities.
5. Training and Documentation: GCS provided comprehensive training sessions and detailed documentation to equip BuildingMetrix’s team with the skills needed to maximize the tools’ effectiveness.

This project has enabled BuildingMetrix to enhance their property risk assessment offerings, provide valuable insights to insurance carriers and agents, and support more data-driven underwriting decisions, further strengthening their position in the insurance analytics market.

BuildingMetrix is a subsidiary of the Washington Surveying and Rating Bureau (WSRB) that provides data-driven solutions to assist property insurers and agents in evaluating and managing emerging risks.
