GCS partnered with Filsinger Energy Partners (FEP) to design and implement a next-generation wildfire solution for energy utility customers. Built on Esri’s ArcGIS technology and deployed in the AWS Cloud, this Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform delivers powerful dashboards and decision-support tools to enhance wildfire preparedness, situational awareness, and operational resilience.
Challenge
Energy utilities face increasing risks from wildfires that threaten infrastructure, customers, and communities. To meet regulatory requirements and ensure reliable service, utilities need real-time visibility into fire risk conditions, predictive modeling capabilities, and secure access to spatial data across distributed teams.
Solution
GCS designed a secure, scalable SaaS solution leveraging ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and AWS Cloud infrastructure. The engagement included:
- Esri Licensing Facilitation – guided FEP through partner requirements to obtain ArcGIS licensing for SaaS delivery.
- Prototype Applications in ArcGIS Online – validated key business needs using ArcGIS Dashboards and Experience Builder with a “configure-first” approach.
- AWS Esri Server Deployment – implemented ArcGIS Enterprise Server in AWS for scalability, and reliability.
- Data Pipeline Development – created efficient workflows for integrating both vector and raster GIS data into the Enterprise Geodatabase hosted in AWS.
