GCS working closely with the GIS Manager for Lewis and Clark County and the City of Helena, MT, developed a custom enteprise Esri ArcGIS web-mapping application.
Designed to meet the workflow requirements of city and county employees as well as provide geospatial information and functionality to the general public, the Web mapping application provides a secure login (SSL) for government users and an open access mapping application for the public.
The ArcIMS application was written in ASP.NET, and GCS Research designed and developed the graphical user interface (GUI) to the specifications of the customer. A range of functional tools and output options were developed and integrated into the application. These tools allow for uploading GPS coordinates, adding dynamic annotation to the map graphics, a variety of search tools, and the printing of custom maps to meet a variety of cartographic output requirements.
The entire application is database driven (ArcSDE), utilizing the enteprise geodatabase designed and maintained by the City and County GIS management.
