GCS, working closely with the GIS Manager for Lewis and Clark County and the City of Helena, MT, developed a custom enteprise Esri ArcGIS web-mapping application.
Designed to meet the workflow requirements of city and county employees as well as provide geospatial information and functionality to the general public, the Web mapping application provides a secure login (SSL) for government users and an open-access mapping application for the public.
The ArcIMS application was written in ASP.NET, and GCS Research designed and developed the graphical user interface (GUI) to the specifications of the customer. A range of functional tools and output options were developed and integrated into the application. These tools allow for uploading GPS coordinates, adding a dynamic annotation to the map graphics, a variety of search tools, and the printing of custom maps to meet a variety of cartographic output requirements.
The entire application is database-driven (ArcSDE), utilizing the enterprise geodatabase designed and maintained by the City and County GIS management.
