GeoBusiness for Dynamics 365: Seamlessly Connect Esri ArcGIS with Microsoft ERP for Enhanced Workflow Management
KGPCo, a prominent telecommunications service provider in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, engaged GCS to integrate their construction business workflow system, Kapture and Microsoft Dynamics 365, with Esri’s ArcGIS advanced mapping technologies. Using GeoBusiness, this collaboration aimed to streamline operations and enhance overall efficiency.

Key Project Highlights
- ArcGIS and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Integration: GCS deployed a cohesive, end-to-end GIS solution integrating ArcGIS Enterprise with Microsoft Dynamics 365, streamlining workflows across PMO, Engineering, Construction, Subcontractors, Warehousing, and Back Office operations. This integration enabled real-time data sharing, automated asset tracking, and optimized resource allocation, enhancing project visibility, operational efficiency, and decision-making. By leveraging Esri’s geospatial capabilities within Dynamics 365, KGPCo achieved seamless project execution, improved coordination, and reduced operational bottlenecks, ensuring a fully integrated and efficient business workflow.
- Robust GIS Data Model: GCS designed, deployed, and maintained a comprehensive GIS data model that seamlessly integrated with KGPCo’s mobile field service application, Kapture, and Microsoft Dynamics 365. This integration ensured consistency and operational efficiency across all workflows.
- Communication Data Management Framework: By deploying Esri’s CDM framework, GCS facilitated a consistent approach to data management, enhancing workflow efficiency.
- Comprehensive Staff Training: GCS conducted extensive training sessions for KGPCo staff on data conflation tasks using ArcGIS Pro and CDM web editing applications. This training ensured that the team was well-equipped to effectively manage and edit spatial data.
- Python Scripting Support: GCS provided Python scripting support to automate repetitive GIS tasks, enhancing operational efficiency and minimizing the risk of human error.
- Quality Assurance Workflow: GCS played a crucial role in defining a quality assurance (QA) workflow to ensure that GIS data was properly validated before synchronization with Kapture’s Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment.

Integration of GIS Data and GeoBusiness
A major aspect of the project was the integration and synchronization of GIS data between Esri’s CDM and Kapture Dynamics 365 using GeoBusiness. This Location Intelligence Platform offers real-time mapping, visualization, and geo-analytics capabilities.
GCS meticulously defined and implemented the synchronization process, creating a seamless data flow between the two systems. Training was also provided to KGPCo staff on the QA workflows essential for collaboration between field crew foremen and construction supervisors. Utilizing ArcGIS Field Maps and ArcGIS Survey123, GCS streamlined field data collection and verification processes.

Data Ingestion and Project Execution
Once the initial project setup within Kapture was completed, engineering data from various partners—including permits, site data, work orders, and Bill of Materials (BOM)—was ingested into the centralized Enterprise GIS. GCS facilitated the data ingestion process, conducted a thorough review of the conflated data, and incorporated necessary feedback. After the final review and acceptance, the data was prepared to support KGPCo’s permit and construction processes, laying a solid foundation for efficient project execution and ongoing management.
